Privacy

This site collects three things about you, and only when you type them into the booking form. Here is what happens to them.

What we collect

The booking form asks for your name, email address, phone number, the service you want, and whatever you tell us about the car. That is the whole of it. Nothing is collected from you anywhere else on the site.

Our web server keeps standard access logs — the address your request came from, the page, the time, and your browser's user-agent string. Every web server does this, and it is how we find out the site is broken.

What we do with it

We use your details to answer your enquiry and to book the work. We do not sell them, rent them, or hand them to anyone marketing anything.

We do not send marketing email. Submitting the form does not put you on a list, because there is no list.

Who else handles it

This is the part most sites leave out, so it is stated plainly.

Your enquiry is stored and processed on a server operated by Teddy's Cleaning Services, which builds and runs this site for the workshop. That server hosts other businesses as well as this one. Your data is kept separate from theirs, and the operator's staff can technically reach it because they administer the machine.

Enquiry emails are delivered through Amazon Web Services Simple Email Service, in the Sydney (ap-southeast-2) region. That is an Australian data centre, and Amazon processes the message in order to deliver it.

The sending identity for that email is shared, so a reply from us may arrive from an address on the teddyscleaning.com.au domain rather than ours. That is not a phishing attempt. If it worries you — and it reasonably might — ring the workshop and check.

Cookies, tracking, and what this site does not do

There is no advertising on this site, no advertising pixels, and no cross-site tracking.

The fonts are served from our own server rather than from Google, so reading a page here does not tell Google you did.

If you arrive at the booking form from a lesson, your browser remembers which lesson that was, in its own storage, on your device. It is sent to us only if you choose to send the form — it tells the workshop which lesson earned the booking. Clearing your browser data removes it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that become jobs are kept as part of the workshop's service records, because a vehicle's history is worth having. Enquiries that go nowhere are deleted once they are plainly stale.

Getting a copy, or getting it deleted

Ask us and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete it. There is no form to fill in and no charge.

The Privacy Act, honestly

MC Mechanical Service Centre is a small business, and small businesses under the turnover threshold are generally exempt from the Privacy Act 1988 under section 6D. We are telling you that rather than hiding behind it.

We handle your details as though the Australian Privacy Principles applied to us, because the reason they exist does apply to us. If you think we have mishandled something, tell us first. If we do not sort it out, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner takes complaints at oaic.gov.au.

Children

The lessons are written to be readable by a curious twelve-year-old, and we are glad when they are. The booking form is not for them — it is for whoever owns the car. We do not knowingly collect details from children.

Changes

If what we do with your data changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top changes with it.
